Terminology

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): Synthetic rubber resistant to heat, ozone, and weathering.

Silicone: Polymer with flexibility and high-temperature resistance.

SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber): Common in tyres for abrasion resistance.

PBR (Polybutadiene Rubber): High-resistance to wear and is used especially in the manufacture of tyres and treads.

POE (Thermoplastic Polyolefin Elastomer): Polymers with low hardness, low density and high impact/toughness. These resins are commonly used in compounding applications.

Natural Rubber: High tensile strength and elasticity, used in tyres and footwear.

Butyl Rubber: Airtight, used in inner tubes and sealants.

Neoprene (Chloroprene Rubber): Offers chemical stability and flexibility.

Viton™ (Fluoroelastomer): Chemical-resistant rubber, ideal for seals and gaskets.

Nitrile (NBR): Oil-resistant rubber, used in fuel hoses and seals.

Polyurethane: Abrasion-resistant, used in gaskets and wheels.

Fluorosilicone: Combines silicone’s thermal stability with chemical resistance.

EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate): Flexible copolymer, used in foam rubber products.

Hypalon: A chlorosulfonated polyethylene with excellent resistance to chemicals and weather.
